Today, we had the honour of welcoming the Lord-Lieutenant of Aberdeen, Dr David Cameron, to present our King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade, one of the highest accolades a UK business can receive.

Formerly known as the Queen’s Award, this prestigious recognition celebrates outstanding achievement across innovation, international trade, sustainable development and social mobility.

Earlier this year, we were informed that we were among the 116 organisations acknowledged for contributions to International Trade, across 197 total organisations recognised with a King’s Award.

This milestone follows our 2021 Queen’s Award for Innovation, highlighting our continued commitment to excellence, global growth and supporting the UK subsea industry on the world stage.

Today’s presentation is not just a company achievement, it’s a celebration of the hard work, passion and dedication of our entire team.

This royal recognition follows a decade of rapid expansion, marked by our 10-Year Anniversary Celebration, where we reflected on our journey from a small Scottish start-up to a global subsea technology provider.

This latest honour in International Trade follows Impact Subsea’s previous success in winning the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation in 2021, highlighting the company’s consistent commitment to excellence and growth.

The King’s Awards for Enterprise are awarded annually by His Majesty The King and celebrate outstanding achievement by UK businesses in the categories of Innovation, International Trade, Sustainable Development and Promoting Opportunity through social mobility.

Impact Subsea’s recognition in the International Trade category reflects its exceptional success in expanding its global footprint and supporting the UK’s international trade efforts. The company is one of just 197 organisations to receive this prestigious honour in 2025 and among 116 recognised specifically for excellence in International Trade.

As a leading force in the subsea technology sector, the company provides cutting-edge sensors and systems, including sonar, altimeters, depth and temperature sensors, attitude and heading reference systems (AHRS) and a state-of-the-art Flooded Member Detection System.

Their solutions are compact, reliable and used on ROVs, AUVs and in various underwater applications, including offshore energy, defence, marine science and environmental monitoring. In the past year, Impact Subsea has made significant strides in advancing its capabilities. The company has released the first open-source version of its Software Development Kit (SDK), empowering developers and researchers with greater flexibility and accessibility.

Additionally, Impact Subsea has expanded its service offerings by establishing a new service centre in Guangzhou, China. Leveraging the expertise of Oceasian Technology, this strategic move will enhance support for users of Impact Subsea’s sensors in the region.

The MTR100 is a prestigious annual ranking of the one hundred most influential companies operating in the offshore energy, subsea defence, and scientific communities.

The inclusion of Impact Subsea in the MTR100 is a testament to the company’s continued dedication to pushing the boundaries of underwater technology. In the past year, Impact Subsea has expanded its sonar range, with the launch of the ISS360HD, which offers more than twice the angular resolution and higher range capabilities than previous models.

Additionally, Impact Subsea has launched the Subsea Academy, an online platform that provides a wealth of technical guides and resources to help users make informed decisions when selecting sensor solutions for their projects.

The latest addition to Impact Subsea’s product line is the ECHOGRAM feature, which has been added to the ISA500 range of Altimeter & Echosounders. ECHOGRAM adds a full backscatter capability to the ISA500, effectively upgrading the underwater Altimeter to have a full single beam imaging sonar capability. The feature can be added to all ISA500 Altimeters through a firmware and software upgrade, complete with a one-time activation license.

Impact Subsea is delighted to be included in the Marine Technology Reporter Top 100 List for the sixth consecutive year.

Each year, the Marine Technology Reporter compiles a list of the top one hundred most influential companies operating in the offshore energy, subsea defence and scientific communities.

Impact Subsea has been included due to continued development of ground breaking underwater technology.

The company has recently released a new software development; seaView V3. The new software provides a platform for existing Impact Subsea sensors and future sensor developments. This release also saw both software and firmware redevelopments from the ground-up, providing capabilities to new and existing sensors and ensuring they remain at the forefront of innovation.

The company has also launched the newest generation of Flooded Member Detection. The ISFMD V3 system provides users with an intuitive underwater, flooded member detection system for deployment by divers or ROVs.

Impact Subsea are delighted to receive a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation.

The ground-breaking ISA500 Altimeter has been recognised by the UK’s most prestigious business awards, personally approved by Her Majesty, The Queen. One of only 205 organisations recognised with the prestigious award this year, Impact Subsea join 48 recipients in the Innovation Category. 

The award acknowledges the ISA500’s step-changing impact within the field of underwater Altimeters; in terms of distance measurement range, accuracy and new functionality previously unseen in the market. 

Launched in 2015, the ISA500 Altimeter provides an in-built heading, pitch and roll system allowing automatic stabilisation of the distance measurement by correcting for pitch and roll of the vehicle. 

Since its launch the ISA500 has gone from a single sensor solution to a range of underwater Altimeters available in different housing materials and configurations.  It is also one of only two underwater Altimeters in the world to be available for use down to 11,000 meters depth.
